Job posting reveals Halo MMO could be in the works

first_imgHalo 4 was released earlier this month and had an extremely successful launch. Master Chief is still popular and developer 343 Industries seem to want to cash in on this popularity further.Going from job ads posted by the company, it looks like a Halo-related MMO could be in the works. Two job posting went live on November 19th, both for a Software Development Engineer positions at 343 Industries to build “the next generation of backend services to power Halo 4” as well as building a new game saga altogether. The postings each say the ideal candidate would have experience in MMO development. Of course, the MMO requirement could have nothing to do with the Halo series and either just be part of the job description or tie into Halo’s robust ecosystem which includes online co-op and versus gaming. However, just last week another job listing was posted for 343 Industries for a senior game designer. The job was said to include working on currently unknown projects and “other AAA Halo experiences” — which sounds like there’s different types of Halo games coming out, other than just Halo 5 and Halo 6.This isn’t the first time a Halo MMO has been discussed. Back in 2004 development started on a Halo MMORPG which went by the codename of Titan. Ensemble Studios, was owned by Microsoft and closed in 2008, spent three years developing the game before it was cancelled in 2007. Titan apparently had a $90 million budget at the time. Perhaps now Microsoft will pick up the leftovers of Titan and Ensemble’s work won’t be wasted.More at Microsoft Careers, via GameSpotlast_img read more
