first_img Australian charity the Fred Hollows Foundation has won the Gold Star Award for Non-Profit Video Advertising 2009 at the International Fundraising Congress in Holland.At last night’s event, the 900 delegates and attendees voted for the winning entry from the shortlist for this international DRTV award.The charity’s Help Fred’s Word Shine On campaign video, developed in-house, received twice as many as did any other campaign. Campaign, developed by agencies Watson Phillips Norman and Mike Colling & Company.The Fred Hollows Foundation was awarded a gold trophy on the night and a complimentary place for the 2010 International Fundraising Congress, the 30th anniversary event.The Gold Star Award, now in its third year and sponsored by RAPP, is an internationally recognised award for best practice in charity and NGO DRTV advertising. It is hosted by global capacity-building organisation the Resource Alliance.Ian Haworth, RAPP’s Global Creative Director, said: “The winning film showed how a real, human story can evoke such an emotive response. The awards demonstrate again the power of moving image.“It also highlights the huge opportunity we have to take film into the online space. We have never before had the platforms we now have to deliver powerful relevant film content to our audiences.“People can be immersed in the content and interact with it.
