Most of us are familiar with the Milan ’54 Museum locally and the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Museum in New Castle. How many know about Rosie’s Roundup in Thorntown, Indiana?Twice a year on the last Thursday of April and September people gather at Stookey’s Restaurant on Main Street in Thorntown. It was started by Jim Rosenstihl, the legendary basketball coach of Rick Mount of Lebanon High School. The first gathering Rosenstihl invited 8 of his friends for a dinner where they would talk about Indiana High School basketball.Today, even though Jim died 10 years ago, they still meet twice a year. Anyone who cares about Indiana basketball can gather. It is not uncommon for some of the current mainstays of Indiana basketball to show up. Matt Painter of Purdue is often a guest, and this fall Jim Shannon of New Albany joined him. Shannon was the coach of Romeo Langford who will be playing for Indiana University this coming year.Much of this information came from an article written by Gregg Doyel of the Indianapolis Star.
