FRISCO, Texas – Lamar guard Nick Garth is the Southland Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. Southland Conference Players of the Week are presented by MidSouth Bank.The senior shot 57.9 percent from three and averaged 24 points and 6.5 assists per game in a pair of home wins by the Cardinals, who extended their win streak to seven games, the longest since the 2007-08 season.Lamar (18-12, 11-6 SLC) became the fifth school to punch its ticket to the 2019 Southland Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament. Garth and the Cardinals wrap up the regular-season at home against rival McNeese at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The Houston native shot 10-of-19 overall from the field and dished out seven assists.Garth followed it up with another 20-point outing, his sixth in the Cardinals’ last seven games, in an 81-79 triumph over Stephen F. Austin.
